Tempe, Arizona is the Ultimate Urban Desert Escape. Here’s 5 Things to Do that Prove It

Here are 5 things you should know about, and do, in Tempe, Arizona if you’re on the hunt for the ultimate urban desert escape – from glimpsing wild horses to surrounding yourself with saguaros (and so, so much in between).

We’re out here building wealth. Why wouldn’t w We’re out here building wealth. Why wouldn’t we want to protect it? (SAVE this post if you’re getting married soon!)

👉🏽👉🏽 Comment “PRENUP” and I’ll DM you a link to check out First, plus a special promo code to save $50 on yours!

I know prenups have a bad rap. But they’re not about divorce, they’re about having a financial plan that you get to build together, as a team!

And if you don’t get a prenup? Then you get a default arrangement decided for you by the state (which, let’s be real, is usually not great... 😅)

By the time I figured this all out, we had less than a month until our wedding (oops). So I started researching and found First — a ✨woman-founded company✨ making prenups easy and accessible for all. They have different options, including a self-service prenup that guided us through our agreement in a matter of not days, but hours (!!!).

Jacob and I don’t own property, but our financial picture does include my W-2 job, multiple LLCs, freelancing income, IP, and even digital properties like our social channels. We have different spending & saving habits. We also had debt to discuss. So we customized a prenup that fit our unique story and set us both up for success.

Still feel weird about it? Consider this:
• More than 50% of prenups on First are initiated by women 🙌🏽
• Many women are choosing to marry later (32 is now the avg age, according to The Knot), meaning we will be bringing our own net worth, assets, and history of self-managing our money to the table 💪🏽 how does this change if, or when, you merge wallets?

Don’t forget to add this to your wedding planning checklist (and don’t leave it till the last minute like I did!).

What do you think of when you hear the word “prenup”? Would you sign one?
To live in a world where we celebrate what makes u To live in a world where we celebrate what makes us different, rather than fear it…

That is the world I am after 🙏🏽

I am a proud product of immigrants, both white and brown. A multicolor fiber in the story woven by people courageous enough to follow a dream, a goal, or even a great love. People who let love and hope and ambition outweigh fear of failure.

I am a wife to a husband born into a family of immigrants. So many of which have leapt at every opportunity to make both themselves, and their communities, better.

Our cultures fuel us. They make us beautiful.

I’m especially proud to have grown up in Hawaii and transplanted to LA, surrounded by people of all backgrounds and skin colors, who stand in solidarity with those who had to forge the path so that ours could be paved smooth.

This week, and always 🤍

Not very demure. Not very cutesy. 100% me 🤪☺️

I wanted to share a bit more of the backstory behind this beautiful outfit I wore on my wedding day. As you can see, I may not have any cute or demure photos while wearing it, but I had the BEST time and so many awesome memories. I even managed to get lola on the dancefloor while wearing it!

Early on, I knew I wanted to honor my Filipino heritage in my attire. I researched female Filipina designers all of last summer, and came across a brand that blended Filipiniana inspiration with modern silhouettes (@vaniaromoff). The only catch? They were based in Manila so we had to do everything virtually, including taking my measurements, which you can see my lola helping me with in the first few seconds of this video 🤍

I didn’t get to try on the final design until a month before our wedding, but it turned out SO incredible. I wanted the edginess of a pantsuit with the feminine movement of pina fabric, which is unmistakably an homage to filipina formalwear, and this was the result. What do you think of it?

PS - If you’re a bride looking for inspiration on Instagram which might be why you find this video, my biggest piece of advice is to have fun with every little detail that interests you, forget what doesn’t, and don’t be afraid to be different. You don’t need to change into a LWD (little white dress). You don’t need to wear a veil. Heck, you don’t even need a 2nd outfit if you don’t want one. But if you do, make it fun. Make it comfy. Make it you. 🥰

Can’t wait to bring this outfit to the motherland one day soon (and take some proper photos in it 😂) ✨ #2025bride #filipiniana #filipinianabride #destinationwedding
Saving this place for future home / hotel inspirat Saving this place for future home / hotel inspiration. Swipe to see why! 😌

📍 Paradero Hotel, Todos Santos, MX (@paraderohotels)

We spent four nights here for our mini-moon, and it really was magical in so many ways...

• the lingering sunsets over the chile fields

• the brutalist architecture

• the way every sensory element was considered, from the ocean sounds you hear as you walk into the hotel to the way the wind caught the drapes strewn over the pool

Paradero is an “experience all-inclusive” hotel, meaning guests can choose from a menu of activities each day included in your stay. We opted for workout classes and beach days (featuring the best ceviche of my life), but you can cook, farm, hike, bike, or even go whale watching too in the winter months! The hike and the art walk are both a must – Diego and Andi were our favorite guides and regional experts. We learned so much from them both!

While the hotel is no doubt unforgettable, there are a couple things I felt were missing that would improve the experience even more, like a heated pool or jacuzzi for the cold evenings in southern Baja, a few more food options since the property is a bit of a drive from town, and blankets for the rooftop terraces.

I’ll do a full hotel review soon on the blog, but in the meantime, swipe through for some of my favorite captures from our visit. #OffDutyHotels #OffDutyinMexico

Are you supposed to tell your boss if you work rem Are you supposed to tell your boss if you work remotely from a different state or country? 👀

👉🏽 This is episode 2 of Just Circling Back, where I answer all the burning work and travel questions you’ve been dying to know, but couldn’t ask 🤫

Now, this is a tricky question, and as a disclaimer: there is no one, universally correct answer.

Being honest with your boss is obviously a best practice. But keeping your personal life private is also, generally, totally acceptable... as long as it doesn’t negatively impact your work or go against any concrete policies.

If there are no policies in your HR handbook about where you can or can’t work, you’re going to need to make a personal judgment call about whether or not to disclose. In my personal experience, I erred on the side of caution, overshared with my boss, and overdelivered until I felt I had proven myself. Then, I stopped sharing my travels altogether unless asked, doing what I could to make sure nothing fell through the cracks or was inconvenienced by time zone changes.

Are you thinking of planning an upcoming trip, but nervous about how to handle it? Let’s talk about it!! 👇🏽

This life, and my husband ✨ I’ve joked with p This life, and my husband ✨

I’ve joked with people asking how married life has been, saying “exactly the same as before.” 🤪

By that, I mean we’ve already been cultivating our ideal life together long before I Do.

Sure, we may not be homeowners (yet?) or parents (yet??) or own a fancy car (meh??? lol but Jacob does want this eventually) but we are genuinely in no rush to tick any of these boxes, simply because we tied the knot.

Our timeline is our own. And while having a wedding was a beautiful privilege, this is what it’s all about isn’t it? Not just the big moments, but the little ones in between. I love our travel filled, creative, nonstop pursuit of life and adventure. This is, and always will be, us 🙏🏽

PS - hi to more than 200+ new faces here!!!! thank you for following me from our wedding story 🥺 you’ll find tons of work & travel goodness from me (with the occasional cameo from @jacobsmedium!) here on these squares.
