Work-cation: Greece 🇬🇷 Have you ever consid Work-cation: Greece 🇬🇷

Have you ever considered a work-cation in Europe? Would you be able to handle a schedule like this?

In the blink of an eye, one month work-cationing & vacationing around Greece has come to a close! This is my second time doing so (first time was in Czechia 2 years ago!) and I have to say, it is CHALLENGING but it can be an awesome experience.

Things I Love about Work-Cationing in Greece:

✔️ Having days free to explore. I used the time to sight-see in Athens, go to the beach in Mykonos, and do freediving training in Paros.

✔️ Being in a country with LATE restaurant and bar culture. This came in clutch when I needed to work weird hours and was taking a break for 'lunch' at 11 pm.

✔️ WiFi was not the fastest, but it was generally widely available and I could work from hotels, coffee shops, restaurants, and bars with ease.

Things to Know:

➖ The WiFi in the mainland is going to be more reliable than the islands, though having just done both I can say that island-hopping while working remotely is possible!

➖ I had a couple hotel mishaps where the WiFi promised was not the WiFi we got. I had better experiences in airbnbs and hotels specifically designed for digital nomads (check out @selina in Athens and Paros)

➖ If you are based in the Americas, the time zone can be tricky! Expect to work in the evenings (starting at 6pm until as late as 2-3 am if you work PST like me)

Don't keep your side hustle on the sidelines. Here Don't keep your side hustle on the sidelines. Here's how! 👉🏽

The first 5 years of my career were spent being embarrassed or unsure of my interests outside of work. I had no idea I could be more than one thing, because we exist in a culture that has for so long celebrated only what we are employed to do.

What do you do for a living? Is always easier answered by one job title, after all.

But did you know that more than 1 in 3 working adults have a side hustle? This isn't the niche, it's the norm!

And whether you're doing it for money, or to eventually pursue full time, or simply to flex a different creative muscle than the one you use for your 9-to-5, it doesn't matter. Your side hustle is an asset, but only if you believe it.

Tell me, do you have a side hustle? Which of the things on slide 2 currently best describes you?

Make peace with all the women you once were, for t Make peace with all the women you once were, for they are the bones of the temple you sit in now.

for they are the rivers of wisdom leading you toward the sea.

words by Emory Hall, which were too good not to re-share, and postcards from a month in Greece, which felt right to send off the last day of summer 2023 🤍

For every moment I spent savoring this summer, I also found myself questioning who I am at the intersection between my twenties and thirties. Am I too old for this? And this? Is this the last time I'll do this? Or this? Are we expected to know more, act better, be different, suddenly and all at once, because of a number? Or is it really true what they say about ripening like fine wine. Is the best really yet to come?

One thing I know for sure is that I have spent the past decade admiring everyone I meet who defies the 'expectations' of age, or convention. I realize if I get to be that person for someone else (or many someone elses across this lifetime) then I have a lot to look forward to, too.

I hope if you ever get in your head about whether you are meant to be where you are, you remember that you are an example for someone else hoping to be validated, too. That's what these words remind me whenever I re-read them.

📸 P.s. on a more lighthearted note, which photo is your favorite? mine is number 2 ☺️

the fierce meltemi winds meant we couldn't cliff jump here which was a shame because I had dreamt of visiting Sarakiniko for ages, but it was beautiful and surreal nonetheless #OffDutyinGreece
The thing: ticking Yacht Week off our adventure li The thing: ticking Yacht Week off our adventure list 🇬🇷⛵

What a wild week, in a beautiful place, with excellent company. In my 30s I want to be, and be surrounded by, yes people ❤️ people that celebrate everything, that are in for a good time even when plans change, that love the big moments and the small, that want to stay up too late and smile too big and savor every inch of this wild and magical and all too brief blink of a life.

Check out my Greece 🇬🇷 highlight for more Yacht Week recaps and follow @racheloffduty for more travel & career advice! What's on your adventure list?

This is 30 ✨ Here's a little photo dump from our This is 30 ✨ Here's a little photo dump from our sailing trip this past week in Greece! ⛵

To ring in 30, we gathered some crazy friends together in Greece to set sail on a 7 day @theyachtweek expedition - something we've been wanting to do for years!! It didn't entirely go as planned 😅 (more on this later) but I'm still so grateful for the opportunity to be here, in this place, doing & sharing what I love.

This summer has been filled with big things, and I'm deep in my feelings today about the people and experiences along the way that've made this unconventional lifestyle even possible. I don't take a single minute of it for granted.

If 20s were a sprint, I hope 30s are marathon. Increased clarity about who I am and who I'm not, more appreciation for life's sweet moments as they come, more compassion to myself & to others when things inevitably don't go as planned, and more time spent on the things that bring me pride 🙏🏽
Some of my favorites, which one is yours? 📷 Cu Some of my favorites, which one is yours? 📷

Cuba made my eyes wider than any camera lens could capture, but we did our best 🙏🏽 Slow mornings with our local hosts, late nights with live music on every street corner, watching the steady hands of a tabaquero. My favorite moments not captured on camera though are what weave it all together #OffDutyinCuba
