We’ve got some Christmas Market magic on this side of the Atlantic, too 🤩🇨🇦🎄

Last weekend a work trip took me up to Vancouver (my first time in BC!), and in just a short 2.5 hours, I was transported from the sunny palm tree-lined streets of LA to the wintery waterfront City of Glass. Did you know that in Vancouver and in fact, all across Canada, you can find amazing Christmas Markets like this one?

So far, I’ve been to the German Christmas Market in Quebec and now the waterfront Christmas Market in Vancouver but there are also markets in Montreal, Banff, Toronto and more that I’ve heard are equally magical.

Depending on where you live in the states, you could plan a festive Christmas Market weekend getaway and be back in time for work Monday morning 🤓

The trip may have lasted just a short time, but the memories...

They are here to stay, and there are almost too many to count! Here are some of my absolute favorites, like seeing belugas for the first time, eating pickle pizza in a log cabin, seeing the fall colors across Denali NP, and staying in some incredibly special places along the way.

Filing this away under Places My Soul Feels Happy ✨

I wanted to share a few more photos from the hotel I posted about earlier this week (scroll back if you missed it – this is what I surprised @jacobsmedium with for our birthdays!) because this place deserves its flowers. Also, have you ever been to Talkeetna? I have been curious about coming here since learning about the fictional town of Tolketna in Snow Dogs 😅 I’m so glad we did!

With just 2 nights in Talkeetna, here are some things I loved:

• Obviously, staying at @denalioverlookinn.talkeetna

• Taking a flightseeing tour with @talkeetnaair and landing on a glacier

• Grabbing a bite and a beer at @denalibrewing

• Exploring the general stores and quirky thrift shops on Main Street

• Catching a view of the Denali mountain range on a sunny, clear day (we were so lucky!)

• Learning about Talkeetna’s proudly weird & funky identity. Did you know Talkeetna’s mayor was a cat named Stubbs for nearly 20 years? 🐱🐈

I was seeking a unique place to spend a couple days in Talkeetna, Alaska so we could appreciate the Denali Mountain Range and celebrate our birthdays, and boyyyy, did I find it! I don’t even think @jacobsmedium fully understood what I had booked until we arrived, and the look on his face when he saw these windows during golden hour was 🥺

Some of my favorite parts of staying here included:

• The campfires at dusk where you can come as you are (with a drink or a freshly baked cookie in hand)

• The homemade breakfasts, ft. the best salmon cakes of my life

• The smell of fresh pastries and coffee

• The most incredible view of Denali, not just from our room but throughout the entire B&B

• The resident doggos!

It’s places like these that make me dream of owning a hotel one day. Do you think I could do it? 🌝

There is nothing like a cozy cabin stay. As if surrounding yourself nature in complete immersion could cure any overwhelm or stress or anxiety life throws at you. Could give you just enough distance to see things a bit more clearly once again.
