Apparently, 94% of Americans are on the work-cation train, or planning to take one, sometime in 2022!

• Remote Work Articles on Rachel Off Duty (head to the link in my bio)

Tell me, are you work-cationing this summer? If so, where are you headed? Domestic, or abroad?

Summer in the Ozarks! Have you ever been? [SAVE] Summer in the Ozarks! Have you ever been? [SAVE]

I swear, we visited before I watched a single episode of Ozark on Netflix haha 🙈

Road tripping from Nashville to Kansas City, we planned a pit-stop in the Ozarks to get away from the crowds and relax and unwind in between two conferences we were attending back-to-back. We spent 5 days in the Ozark Highlands (more on this later)!

Here are some things I discovered:

• The Lake of the Ozarks area really is beautiful. Dense green woodlands, lake views everywhere you go, limestone cliffs and bridges, and cows - so many cows!

• You don't need to have a boat to visit. In fact, you don't even need to have a license. You can apply for a temporary license on the spot and rent a jetski (which is what we did) or a pontoon, or hire a captain for the day.

• There's lots of hiking, but there's also lotssss of bugs. Pants, sunscreen, bug spray are all a MUST.

• Missouri is the Cave State - and of the thousands of caves that call Missouri home, you can tour 4 of them right here in the Lake of the Ozarks. If you've never been in a limestone cave, this is an easy place to fix that - such a wild example of nature at work.

👉🏽 I'm sharing all about how to have a romantic and outdoorsy weekend getaway in one of the Midwest's best summer destinations today on the blog. ✨ Go check it out - link in bio! ✨

Lakeside summers are less familiar to me (we all know I'm an ocean girl) but this was a unique way to kick off my favorite season! Tell me - would you ever consider a trip to the Ozarks?
Laughing at myself, because I've made a LOT of mis Laughing at myself, because I've made a LOT of mistakes 👇🏽

Specifically, while working remotely abroad 🙈

In the past 3 years, I....

• Stayed in an Airbnb with no air conditioning in Mexico in the middle of the summer. Didn't realize when I booked because I thought AC in 90 degrees + humidity was a given. No wonder it was so cheap. 😬

• Booked a co-working hotel and didn't realize their coworking space needed to be reserved separately. Turns out, the coworking space was fully booked for the entire time I was there and the hotel rooms did. not. have. wifi. 😬😬

• Worked from a hotel lobby that I swear was quiet as a library when my zoom meeting started, but started BUMPING music so loud mid-call that I needed to end my meeting early. 😬😬

• Booked a glamping tent hotel in the Philippines where the only wifi connection was on the beach (I had to work graveyard shifts with a 16-hr time difference. picture me, on the beach in the dark with my laptop surrounded by sleeping hotel staff) 😬😬😬

... and so on and so on.

In all that craziness, I've had so many beautiful moments too. And I do not regret a single thing I did - good, bad, unorthodox, or flat-out ridiculous - to get where I am today.

BUT, I want to help you not make as many rookie mistakes as I did!

Be sure to pin / save the articles in my bio link for your first remote work trip abroad! #OffDutyinBelize
NEW BLOG POSTS!] Ever dreamt about taking a work-c NEW BLOG POSTS!] Ever dreamt about taking a work-cation abroad?

For those that have the means, the number 1 objection I hear is a worry about logistics. How will I find WiFi? What if x y or z happens? What about the time difference? I know firsthand how daunting it can seem. it's not as easy to plan as a vacation, but it's as rewarding (if not more!!!).

There are a couple new articles up on RachelOffDuty.com that will demystify remote work planning, as well as my very first review of a remote work travel program, @nomacollective, that aims to make it easier for traveling professionals to do more of what they love, abroad. head to the links in my bio to find:

• The Ultimate Guide to Remote Work from Belize

• My Review of Noma Collective

• As well as a bunch of other fresh remote work tips (like tools to use, how to find a co-working space, and more)

I'd love to know - if you could spend a month (or more) working & vacationing anywhere in the world, where would it be?? ✈️💻🌎
Imagine yourself here, in the middle of a steep ju Imagine yourself here, in the middle of a steep jungle hike through thick, 80% humidity on a hot spring day.

Imagine you had this place all to yourself, for a long, lazy moment that seemed endless. Almost magical.

Imagine you with your friends you just met in Belize, and after 3 weeks of traveling together you felt so comfortable you could sit here in silence. No pressure to small talk, it's too beautiful for any distractions. Nothing to concern yourself with but the rushing of the water, the song of toucans and cuckoos in the distance, the wind in the trees high overhead.

This was how I spent my last day of 3 weeks in Belize with a work & travel program called @nomacollective. Full review is coming to the blog this week.

And naturally, with this waterfall all to ourselves, we had to do the macarena. Check out my latest reel to see haha #OffDutyinBelize
