I Have a Love-Hate Relationship with my Closet

My closet is full of 2 kinds of clothes: things that don’t fit anymore that I can’t let go of, and magical clothes that fit no matter what. I have a love-hate relationship with both of them.

Like a lot of girls, I own a lot of clothes that I hardly ever wear. Maybe it’s because they’re tricky to style, or maybe it’s because I don’t fit them anymore. One of the worst feelings is putting something on that you haven’t worn in a while, only to realize that it doesn’t fit the same way that you remembered it.

Today was one of those days that I was feeling pretty meh about my closet. After trying on an old pair of jeans that were too tight, I was uninspired. Running late for work without anything to wear, I reached for some tried-and-true black leggings. Leggings have a way of making you feel both comfortable and miserable at the same time (right?), but I dressed mine up with some black leather ankle boots, a green field jacket, and a black oversized shirt. It was 100% a comfort-over-style kind of day–or at least, that’s how I felt.

It’s taken me a while to come to terms with it, but as I write this I’m finally starting to realize that there’s absolutely no reason that your closet shouldn’t make you feel anything less than stunning. If it doesn’t fit, or if you don’t feel amazing in it, let it go. As soon as I get home, those too-tight jeans are getting donated… or burned.
